New Bond

The New Bond tab located within My Bond Center is where you can issue new transactional commercial surety bonds. Depending on your agency's activity, your new bond screen may default to Favorites, Frequently Used, or Search.

New Bond: Getting Started

To get started, use the search function to narrow down your results by state, type, or bond form number. To preview the bond form before starting, simply click the View action button. When you're ready, click +New.

Copying & Resubmitting

Duplicating bond information from an existing bond to a new bond can save time. To get started, navigate to the My Bonds tab within My Bond Center and select the "more" drop down to the right of your selected bond. Open the dropdowns below to learn more:

Copying

Once you have copied your selected bond, you will be redirected to the “New Bond” tab. Use the drop down and search functions to select the new bond type you wish to issue.

This time, the “Copy” function will be located directly to the right of the chosen bond type. Click “Copy” and the new bond will open with the bond information populated. A green message will indicate a successful copy.

When to use

Used when information from one bond (regardless of status) is needed on another bond. This creates a new bond, and you will be taken to a new bond screen.

Resubmitting

Allows you to resubmit a declined or abandoned bond with corrections that may change the underwriting decision.

When to use

Used when a submission has been declined or abandoned and needs corrections before approval. This makes a copy of your existing submission and allows you to input information for resubmission.

New Bond: Completion

Once you have selected your bond, our intuitive bond administration platform streamlines the rating, bond submission and issuance process. Throughout bond issuance, required fields will be indicated along with helpful resources and text to simplify the bond issuance process.

Applications

After you have completed the required fields in the “Bond Info” tab, an application tab will appear next. If the bond does not require an application, this tab will not show.

To print it, click "Print Application Now" at the bottom left corner of the application page. Signatures for the application can wet signed, scanned and emailed to asksurety@rlicorp.com or uploaded to the bond using the "Upload" tab.

E-signatures can be requested directly from the portal by inputting the bondholder's email address. Our system will request an e-signature from the client via email every three days for two weeks.

Signatures that are e-signed using your own desired e-signature app must include the metadata from the DocuSign app used. Typed font will not be accepted. To upload an application or document, use the following “Upload” tab to drag and drop your desired document.

Billing

If a bond is set to be billed to the client, executed bond documents will not generate until payment has been received from the client. You'll receive an email upon payment receipt and bond execution.

For agency bill options, the bond will be executed after clicking Finish and can be found in the Documents tab.

Documents

Once the bond is executed, bond documents will be filed in the documents tab. Viewing the document will provide options to have them printed or emailed. Relevant bond notes can be created and stored by clicking "add note".

After issuing the bond, you can create an invoice for your client. To do so, use the invoice template located in the documents tab under "new document".

Our portal can help you understand what type of seal (if any) is needed. The Bond Info tab that appears when creating a new bond is our indicator. If there is not an option for you to choose an Attorney-In-Fact, then the bond is electronically signed and sealed.

New Bond: Issuance

Bonds in RLink can be issued two ways:

Review by Underwriter - Not Required

Review by Underwriter - Required

Bonds that can be issued by the agent instantly in RLink. Some bonds may be underwritten with immediate results while others do not require any form of underwriting.

Bonds that must be submitted to RLI for underwriting review. Once the bond has been approved by RLI, the agent must complete the issuance process.

If underwriting is needed, the bond will undergo review, and an underwriter will email you within one business day. If not required, click “Finish."
